In a decisive move towards realising the two-thirds gender principle in Kenya, the Multi-Sectoral Working Group (MSWG) has convened in Naivasha for a crucial three-day workshop. The primary goal of this gathering is to develop a comprehensive roadmap that will guide the group in fulfilling its mandate. Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa officially inaugurated the retreat, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing this critical issue.
Additionally, this workshop sought to meticulously review the processes of previous technical working groups, aiming to identify a viable formula for the full and conclusive implementation of the two-thirds gender principle. The MSWG has underscored that this principle is gender-neutral, promoting equal participation in democracy and governance processes, and offering women the opportunity to engage in elective politics actively.
The MSWG’s dedication to this cause reflects a significant step forward in ensuring gender equality and inclusive representation within Kenya’s political landscape. As discussions continue in Naivasha, stakeholders are determined to pave the way for a more equitable and diverse political arena.
