Gaia Education is partnering with two educational institutions in Africa for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Africa Programme. Specifically,  Kenyatta University, Kenya and Igbenedion University, Nigeria.

The programme was introduced to complement, correspond with, and assist African educational institutions in setting a standard for promoting an integrated approach to education for sustainable development. Moreover, it was designed to build the capacity of the skilled workforce required to make African cities exemplars of SDG implementation.

Among others, it seeks to strengthen multi-stakeholder learning and community engagement to accelerate sustainable solutions at the local and regional level; train local leaders and communities on the activation of the SDG framework as a guide for developing sustainable local solutions; and to engage the private-public sector in developing locally based sustainable social enterprises.

This programme targets, among others, tertiary education students and final year students of African universities; national and local government members and officials at senior levels in those countries where tertiary education is lacking; and private sector with a view to assist in framing their CSR projects and programmes towards sustainability.

It is a self-paced online certification course that is available free of charge until 31st May, 2021.
