The Kenyan-based Sub-Saharan International Model United Nations (SAIMUN) will be holding its annual conference from the 22nd-24th of July 2021. Among other things, it was created to encourage knowledge on international affairs, research, and understanding of parliamentary procedures by simulating the working procedures of the major United Nations’ bodies.

The conference is usually a five-day international relations simulation for both high school and university or college students that is held annually at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), Gigiri. However, due to travel and gathering restrictions occasioned by COVID-19 this year’s conference will be held virtually.

The theme for this year is “Impactful Youth Engagement towards Fulfillment of the SDGs in the COVID-19 Pandemic Time”.

In the run-up to the conference, the Sub-Saharan International Model United Nations has held a virtual mock debate, conducted a career development survey in partnership with Fuzu and conducted a training session.
